New appointments to PwC Australia Governance Board

Wednesday, April 24, 2024

The PwC Australia partnership has voted to elect six new members of its Governance Board who will fulfil important leadership roles as the firm continues to make progress on its Commitments to Change

The election follows the partnership’s approval of a milestone reform package in March, which strengthened the independence, oversight powers and duties of its Governance Board, setting a new standard for professional services firms in Australia and paving the way for the appointment of an independent chair.

Improved independence, as well as increased oversight, powers and duties, will ensure the Governance Board is well equipped to hold management to account and to provide strong governance oversight for the firm.

PwC Australia chairman Justin Carroll today announced the successful candidates:

  • Emma Hardy
  • Ewan Barron
  • Ian Hockings
  • Marcus Laithwaite
  • Michael Fung
  • Rosalie Wilkie

“The new Governance Board will play a vital role in overseeing the firm’s continued transformation, strengthening our financial position and ensuring senior leadership succession,” said PwC Australia chief executive Kevin Burrowes.

“The election of these exceptional firm leaders is yet another significant step as we continue to progress on our Commitments to Change. By electing a new Board and embedding these key actions, we are enhancing our governance and culture, helping to realise our vision of becoming the leading professional services firm, built on the highest ethical and professional standards with integrity at our core,” he said.

In addition to electing six new members of the Board, the firm continues to evaluate independent non-executives for the Board. This process is well underway and appointments will be made in due course.
