Independent non-executive Governance Board member, PwC Australia
Carmel Mulhern is joining our Governance Board as an independent non-executive Board Member. She has more than 25 years' experience as a global executive and senior advisor to Boards and CEOs in the financial services, telecommunications, media and technology sectors. Carmel has leadership and governance experience from executive roles at ASX10 entities involving a range of sensitive and complex commercial, policy and stakeholder issues in highly regulated industries with large customer and shareholder bases.
Until 2023, Carmel was Group General Counsel and Group Executive Legal & Corporate Secretariat at CBA, where she was responsible for ensuring the fair and efficient resolution of the Bank's legal matters, corporate governance and supporting the effectiveness of the Board.
Prior to joining CBA, she held various senior executive positions at Telstra, covering legal matters, government relations, corporate communications, regulatory engagement and sustainability.
Carmel is a non-executive director on boards and advisory boards including in the areas of medical research, education, AI and digital ethics. She is a member of Chief Executive Women (CEW), a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia and a graduate of the AICD. She holds a Master of Laws from Monash University (Directors' Duties/Corporate Governance).
